American Funds Invmt Co of Amer A Message Board

    2006 y/e value - May 2007 value?

Invetment Co. of America A did not recover it's value after paying dividend 2006 Y/E like most of the other American funds did. It is just now getting back to it's value at the end of 2006. Most other funds have grown a few points above and beyond this 2006 y/e dividend point high. Why didn't this fund perform like others?

    • I think that I'm missing your point here.

I reinvest steadily - I don't receive the dividends. I'm seeing very steady growth in this area. Annual returns are around 12%.

      I can live with that.

Keep in mind that, when a dividend is paid, it's paid out of the share value at the time. That causes the share value to decline. There is no real assurance that the share price will continue to grow at the old rate.

However, with the steady management of this fund, I think that we will see sustained growth in AIVSX.
