I am from Texas. We have no STI banks. I have, at least for me, a significant position in STI. Someone wrote "North Carolina banks rule." Here, NationsBank is widely conisdered a blight on the small business customer. They do okay w/ consumers, but business hates them. Can someone tell me how STI is perceived in customer relations? Thank you.
Wachovia has long been the rumored suitor. Bank of New York is on the prowl. Mel and STI both have about the same market value, but STI's earnings multiple is not nearly as rich as MEL. I wonder my the chairman of BK was in Atlanta last friday (at least according to BK insiders)? We know Bacot wasn't visiting any clients in Atlanta. Happy speculating.
