Ask your broker what the Ex. Div. Date is. It's usually 2 days before the record date. The record date is when they look and check who their registered holders are to see who to pay. Street Name - when you have your brokerage hold your stock certificates for you. They receieve and redistribute the dividends on record date when they check who their holders on record are. Payment date - when you get the cheque. Some companies act as their own transfer agent. Other companies use banks to calculate and distribute the dividends.
