Anyone know where to file a customer complaint?
I have taken several cash advance loans in Texas via FCFS. Just yesterday I took out another loan. Today I came into some money so I went in and asked if I could CANCEL my contract. The lady had to call her supervisor cuz she didn't know. She then said, Yes, but ONLY if you have your original contract.
Like many customers, I throw mine away. She said that they cant print another one and I had to pay the full term fee anyway ($120 1 day interest!!!)
I said NO WAY. I asked why customer aren't told they 1) CAN CANCEL and 2) TO KEEP THE CONTRACT JUST IN CASE... and her reply was, "They really dont want you to know about the cancel policy that's why we dont tell anyone about it".
I am shocked. I wont be doing business there ever again.
Any ideas how to fight this $120 1 day fee on a $650 loan?
In the state of Texas, you have a 3 day right to cancel the contract without paying the interest. If you call the home office they will make it happen. This sounds like a SM who does not want the loan balance to drop in their store.
I was going to buy stock in this company. Now I think they unscrupulous and I won't touch them with a ten foot pole. Texas is run, in my opinion, by rich crooks with cowboy mentalities.

You sound like you got ripped off. It is a shame that Texas allows so many companies to operate there that legally ripoff the unwary. It seems that Texas is pretty backward and lets rich legal exploitation. Whether it is rent to own, pay day advances or pawn shops, there is no usuray laws. Of course, banks are notorious for taking advantage but companies like this are far worse. My only thought is that you write a complaint to the Attorney General. Hope he is not a Republican cause your Governor is a stupid jackass.
I'm surprised they would even allow you to cancel your contract. A contract is a contract, they don't have to let you cancel. As a shareholder, FCFS should close that loophole...
Anyway, if you really want to pursue this, I suggest contact some payday loan hater organization in your area. Maybe they'll have some tips for you.
