    • best in their class. Plus they're the only ones that can carry a sheet of plywood flat. Not BMW, Toyota, Ford.
Got ours in the summer of 02. Only problem was the oxygen sensor. Common to a lot of the Hondas then.

Lol, that brings back memories. That statement as well as the "goes in the snow" are probably two of the most used lines over the years to sell/justify large as well as front wheel drive vehicles. My long gone non-handy man Dad who moved us south to escape nothern winters used to ask....In the days prior to the likes of Home Depot and Lowes, when I bragged about my used Toranado and later the big "98 wagon..he would ask..Front wheel drive..why? where do you find find snow around here to drive in and and just where in the H do you plan to get, haul all that useless plywood.
As to the Honda oxygen sensor..we remove them and cleaned em with carb cleaner..then replaced the all too used up and ruined rotor and cap..so far..so good..and lots of $$$ not spent...yes, those tune up schedules do have a purpose.

We have a 2003. Just hit 90K over the weekend. It has been good for us, with 2 small kids. We also use it to pull a pop-up. Pulls well, but I wouldn't go any bigger.

Other than the tires, we have not had any thing replaced. Even being the first model year, I like it.

      • my in-laws traded in their Jeep (or should i say cheap) Grand Cherokee (most unreliable suv on the market as they have had it in for repairs on the last 4 vacations and almost as a normal course of maintenance...like a rear diff, a/c unit (2 times), p/s unit, transmission, oil seal leaks, interior is soo poorly constructed we put screws in the overhead storage compartment through the roof (we sealed it off with silicon on top) to hold it up from falling down

they got a 2004 Pilot and have been driving like mad visiting the various grandkids (each set lives 8+ hours away)...so far they have 70k miles on it and have only had a wind rattle problem that the dealer fixed free of charge even though it was out of warranty...they also had to do a set of brakes and tires...they don't off road except the one time I took them out on the sand dunes in OBX for a visit to a secluded beach
