It's the era of the big box store and easy entry, shop, and drive way.
With retailers such as Target, Kohls, Best Buy, Linens & Things, Bed Bath Beyond, Costco, and yes Walmart just about all of my needs are filled. Of course I still like a few others such as Crate & Barrel, LL Bean, Tiffany & Co, and Borders from time to time but otherwise I do not shop any of the FD - May stores even though there are over 30 of them within a 30 minute drive of my home and work.
So you FD investors, don't be so smug, we do not need you.
IMHO your overall volume decline in the year ahead after the merger will be downright eyeopening to you. I do admit that your profit percentage will increase but with declining sales volume...How long will that last?
