    contacts

How do we find real contact information outside of our stores? When we do have a serious complaint, like much of what is on this board, who and how do we contact them. ? Does mr. Lundgren have a personal address or email address? Any info would be appreciated.

    • To start, one way to improve customer service would be to have more than one person covering several departments.
Another way would be to pay a higher wage so the associates have pride in themselves and what they do. Put everyone on commission so they are motivated to provide outstanding service.
Happy associates make for happy customers who buy more!

    • <<What about discussing what our competitors will be doing this Fall? >>

Well, for one thing, I see JCP and JWN kicking your ass from two very different directions.

I think FD's success will be in a year or two further out, after they have had more time to digest this merger. Right now, the other guys are licking their chops.

    • And with trouble in the Middle East and Gas prices that are going to skyrocket, $4.00-$5.00/gallon by the end of summer, who will hve money to shop at a department store.

    • Because everyone is wondering if they will have a job after the grand opening. How can you discuss what hte competition is doing when you are worrying if you have a job or not. It would make sense for Macys to keep everyone until after the grand opening and then release them. When you ask the executives and HR, they do not have any answers.

    • "So why does everyone keep dwelling on the past? It's done and over with. So please, fellow Macy associates, lets move on to the future. We can't fix what was...."

Waiting4macys is very correct. What about discussing what our competitors will be doing this Fall? What about discussing how to improve customer service to an outstanding level? What about talking about the power of a national department store?

      Just some ideas.....

    • Yes, I think we all agree that Gene Kahn was a moron, idiot, and ran the May Company into the ground. But, Gene's gone now, so is Bambergers, so is Filene's, and so is the May Company. So why does everyone keep dwelling on the past? It's done and over with. So please, fellow Macy associates, lets move on to the future. We can't fix what was....we can only fix what will be before it happens.

    • Why do you think that macy's ditched him and he went to may. They were the only people who would hire him!

    • <<Let's not forget where GK originated from! >>

As several others have pointed out, GK was not from Filenes. His career started at Macy's (actually, Bambergers, if I'm not mistaken.) He went from there to Macy's Atlanta as an EVP of Merchandising. He came to MAY as the President of G. Fox in mid-1990, I believe. He did then go to Filenes when MAY merged them with G. Fox in 1992-93. He was only there a couple of years before he moved to May Corporate as a Vice-Chairman.

Anyone who knew him going back to the Bamberger days, was shocked as he moved up the ladder, as he exuded incompetence even then. None of them were shocked that he failed miserably after he ran out of people to blame for his idiocy.

Saying he "originated" at Filenes does that fine retailer a disservice.

    • Our store is going to all black dress code. 3 pieces a must with pants for women. Black top with black skirt. No capris. From talking to other Macy's employees, it is Macys east, south and North so far.

    • We will not be allowed to wear capris. Dress slacks or skirts are what they told us. With jackets. Hose are not required and sandals are ok. It begins in our store on Aug 11. There are supposed to be clothes in the store for the july 28 50% off to associates sale. Have seen little in the way of black clothes except suits.
