Macys vs Walmart
- Macys has class, Walmart has customers
- Macys has fashion, Walmart has fewer mark downs
- Macys is hip, Walmart is boring but makes more money
- Macys has brands, Walmart brands have much more consumer penetration and acceptance
- Macys buyers are savy, Walmart buyers have straw in their hair but know how to steal the vendors wallet
- Macys has great locations, Walmart is smart enough to not pay those rates and is so strong it creates its own destinations.
- Macys stores look better. Who cares.
Bottom line. As a customer shop at Macys but sell their stock and buy Walmart.
Macy's has class?
Macy's has fashion?
Macy's is hip?
Who are you trying fool? Macy's has no class. At Macy's, fasion is Donny Trump suits, Inc. and other poorly made (and very untrendy)clothing. "Hip" is the last word I would use for this boring store. Youwant hip, fashion and trendy? Bring back Marshall Field's.
What is Marshall Fields??? Get over it loser!
Yeah, it's true, there are more middle class than rich. Therefore, catering to middle class makes more money! Macy's need to re-examine their Bloomingdale's stores. (Nobody really buys $3,000 leather jackets these days!)

Partially wrong! European customers are snapping up luxury products in downtown New York, Chicago, and the Los Angeles Bloomies.
However, outside those locations Bloomingdales is not pulling in the high volume as in years past. Particularly weak are Willow Grove, Pa, Bridgewatwer, NJ, and White Flint, Md.
Terry Lundgren in interview and addresses has said that Macy's is working to compete with Wal-Mart.

You are dead wrong on this one. Wal-Mart and Target pay top dollar to get in the right location and doesn't hang on to stores that are past their prime. Kmart was always nickle and diming their landlords and you can see where that got them!
