Mr. David Schechter is a Member at CommonAngels, Inc. He is Managing Principal of Perspective Capital Management, a hedge fund that he has managed since 1997. He began his career in 1977 as a chemical engineer with Diamond Shamrock then in 1979, NL Industries. Following his MBA in 1981, he moved to Boston to join The Boston Consulting Group and, subsequently, the boutique consulting firm Dove Associates. In 1986, he moved into money management business as a stockbroker and analyst with the firm Homans McGraw Trull Valeo & Co. and then in 1990 with H.C. Wainwright & Co. Inc. In 1997, he left the sell-side and founded Perspective Capital to manage his own portfolio. He serves on the Boards of the Jewish Family & Children's Service of Boston, Facing History and Ourselves (a Holocaust educational institution), and MAB Community Services. He is also on the Board of Overseers of the Beth Israel Deacon Medical Center and the Board of Directors of Beaver Country Day School. In 1997, he and his wife created the Schechter Foundation to pursue charitable activities. He is on the boards of Mentor Graphics Corp. and Hain Celestial. He served on the boards of WCI Communities and BKF Capital Group.
Mr. Schechter graduated with honors from The University of Delaware with a BA in Chemical Engineering and holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He is on the Board of Directors at Mentor Graphics Corp., The Hain Celestial Group, Inc., and Jewish Family & Children's Service, Inc.
Mr. Schechter also served on the board at BKF Capital Group, Inc. and WCI Communities, Inc.
He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
