Reolysin produces an inflammation ring around the tumor - Dec 13th Conference Call
Excerpt: (Brad Thompson responding)
"Reo a pretty gentle agent when it comes to actually tumor shrinkage - I mean in the past we've reported that we've seen lesions where the external dimensions haven’t changed but when you biopsy the inside of the tumor there's really nothing left there - my old expression of necrotic goo comes to mind. And there's a lot of internal strata in the tumor that maintains the structure and if you don't kill that too then the tumors don't shrink very much. And also there's a sort of secondary phenomena that very early on in infecting a tumor - actually the tumors look like they're enhanced on the imaging because you get an inflammation ring around the outside of the tumor. So which in our earlier studies we actually lost patients because the doctors thought they had progressed when in fact they were just having an inflammatory response around the edge of the tumor."
