Real's march to 1 MIL subs

All this is speculation as far as I'm concerned. Last quarter's slowdown of gaining 50,000 subs can be explained by the MLB season ending. This quarter willo be telling with the war with Iraq AND with MLB about to begin again, but unfortunately no subscription service is available through RNWK with MLB.com's live games offering so this will not add to their subs. As I've mentioned in a previous email, 2003 = make or break for RNWK. With competition in full bloom in this industry, they must be able to differentiate themsleves with a valueable product line. This is a risky stock but a payout can be huge if they are able to capitalize on their strategy. They need to differentiate their product offering by not being so dependent on such content providers as MLB and ABCNews. The Starz offering should prove to be interesting. Will content providers finally open their doors to the vaults? Stay tuned....

    • this (past) quarter's subs won't be affected by MLB season as it started at the tail end and subscribers aren't counted until they have been around for a period of time. the war, however, may have an impact (but, again, they may not qualify for subscribers yet), but certainly both mlb and war will show a spike in subs in q2.

regarding types of content to differentiate; MLB and ABCnews offer content much more likely to be consumed than movies at this point. i don't believe people are quite ready to watch movies at their computers, but will easily listen to a game, watch a news report, catch highlights, etc.
