    A miss or a hit?

12 cents a share for quarter.Based on how many shares?Did they adjust for the approx. 26 million additional shares?
I anticipate a very positive conference call.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • you must be the type of guy who asks others if Kate Upton is hot?

    • Where are you getting .12? There adjusted earnings for the qtr was .19 vs _.02 last yr. Read the press release .

Increased consolidated sales to $50.4 million (+391% y/y) as compared to $10.3 million in the same period in Q2 fiscal 2013

Increased consolidated Adjusted Net Income to $10.6 million, or $0.19 Adjusted EPS as compared to -$1.0 million or -$0.02 Adjusted EPS in the same period in Q2 fiscal 2013

    • Reason for earnings miss

Quick answer: In Q2, TPLM reported a loss from a change in the value of derivative instruments - $4.4 million. This is a non-cash item, but derivative gains and losses can have a material impact on EPS between quarters. EPS would probably have been in the .16 to .18 range had the derivative loss not occurred.

Again, remember: This is a non-cash item and will likely turn around in subsequent quarters barring any major unforeseen events. I doubt analysts will penalize TPLM management for the hit, since these losses can be in nature.

With respect to dilution, since major stock issuances occurred after July 31, there is no immediate dilutive effect in Q2. This is referred to as a “subsequent event”, and the dilution effect is usually pro-forma’d in a footnote disclosure. Actual dilution will occur in Q3, but again I would not be too concerned since there are so many other TPLM positives. For example:

      1. Substantial oil reserves growth
      2. Substantial oil production growth
      3. An ever-increasing contribution to income by RockPile
      4. Eventually a possible buy-out candidate

$8+ tomorrow very likely. Long-term? a double or triple.

      • Why are you saying they missed their earnings estimate?? According to Yahoo Finance the
average estimate was for TPLM to make .15 cents a share when in fact they made .19 cents
a share. They beat their average estimates by .04 cents a share. It is going to be a long day
for anyone who is short TPLM right now. Nothing like a good short squeeze first thing in the
        morning tommorow!!!
