    What's the story behind Hunnell?

    Anybody know?

Does this mean Mark Readinger is coming back?

I want to take this opportunity to communicate a number of important organizational
changes to all Joy Global employees.

Effective immediately, Wayne Hunnell has resigned as President of Joy Mining
Machinery. Wayne has elected to leave based on our differences in corporate strategy
and management philosophy. I will be assuming operating responsibility for Joy Mining
Machinery on an interim basis, and Waynes direct reports will report to me, except as
otherwise noted below. We will be initiating an external search for Waynes
replacement. Over his extensive career, Wayne has made significant contributions to the
success of both P&H Mining Equipment and Joy Mining Machinery. I appreciate his
efforts and wish him continued personal success.

In addition, Tom Van Tassel has resigned as Senior Vice President, Operations for Joy
Mining Machinery. Larry Buschling will assume the role of Senior Vice President,
Operations and will integrate the manufacturing, engineering and supply chain functions
on a global basis. Larrys desire to retire to teaching in the next several years
continues, so he will also lead the initiative to identify and develop his successor. Don
Roof will assume the role of corporate sponsor for the ongoing strategic sourcing
initiative previously directed by Tom. We appreciate Toms successful guidance of
projects such as strategic sourcing, and we wish him well.
This announcement was sent out June 6, 2002. The reason for this change as stated in quote from Mr. Hanson is difference in corporate strategy and management philosophy. Now, I am just an uneducated blue collar union worker, but I would like to know what this difference might have been and which philosophy I might agree with, not that it really matters what I think. I am a former stock holder from the pre-bankruptcy but I am sure current board members and future stock holders might want to know what Mr. Hanson's strategy is.

My guess is that you can expect a signficant amount of outsourcing to be put in place. You know what the result of that will be. Van Tassel refused to do it, and Hunnell refused to fire him. Therefore, both had to go.

I shutter at the thought the last time Hansen did a high level external search he came up with Tom E.

        Good luck. You'll need it.
