    Contract for Victoria Public Corrections Enterprise

    Wackenhut Corrections Corporation (NYSE: WHC) today announced its Australian subsidiary,
    Australasian Correctional Management Pty Limited ("ACM"), has renewed and expanded its health care
    services contract for The Public Corrections Enterprise, Victoria ("CORE"), to provide comprehensive
    primary health care services for approximately 2,144 offenders housed in 11 public prisons. Previously
    the contract provided health care services to nine public facilities. The additional Centres are the State's
    two assessment prisons, the Melbourne Assessment Prison and the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre in
    Melbourne.

    The new contract is for four years consisting of an initial period of two years with a two-year option
    and having a total contract value of approximately US $20 million. On an annualized basis the contract
    revenue increased to US $5 million per annum from $1.4 million per annum. Under the contract terms
    the company will provide the management and professional healthcare staff for onsite offender primary
    medical, dental and mental health services. All hospitalization costs above a designated cap will be
    borne by CORE.
    George C. Zoley, vice chairman and chief executive officer of Wackenhut Corrections Corporation
    ("WCC"), said, "The company is pleased to renew its existing contract and expand its private-public
    partnership as the provider of quality cost-efficient health care services for the public prison population of
    Victoria. With the addition of the two reception assessment prisons the company will now be able to
    offer continuity of care as offenders enter the system."
    ACM, through its Pacific Shores Healthcare division, has contracted with CORE to provide primary
    inmate health care services since January 1998. In 1999, the company achieved ISO 9002 and
    continues to maintain full certification. ACM is also accredited by The Australian Council of Healthcare
    Standards. The company is committed to providing quality health care service and maintaining these
    services through a process of continued quality improvement.
    WCC is a world leader in the privatized correctional management, medical and mental health
    rehabilitation services industry. The company offers government agencies a turnkey approach to the
    development of new correctional and mental health institutions that includes design, construction,
    financing and operations. WCC has contracts/awards to manage 56 correctional, detention and mental
    health facilities representing nearly 39,000 beds in North America, Europe, Australia, South Africa and
    New Zealand. WCC also provides prisoner transportation services, electronic monitoring for home
