PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.,
May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- WCC (NYSE: WHC) has been named
one of "The 100 Best Small Companies" in the annual
list of "Hot Growth Companies" compiled by Business
Week Magazine (May 29, 2000).
Business Week
states that it compiled the list after looking at public
companies "with sales between $25 million and $500
million," and that the ranking of the top 100 was based on
"their three-year results in sales growth, earnings
growth, and return on invested capital." WCC was ranked
number 96 on the list, and the data was based on
financial results through the end of the first quarter,
2000.
Dr. George C. Zoley, vice chairman and chief
executive officer of WCC, said, "We are extremely pleased
with the recognition given to the growth of our
revenues, earnings, and return on capital over the past
several years. We are extremely proud of our record and
currently have new correctional facilities and expansions
of existing facilities with a total of over 8,000
beds under development, thus assuring our continued
growth. WCC's expansion into the privatization of mental
health facilities and the anticipation of approximately
20,000 additional correctional facility beds to be
contracted to the private sector in the United States and
overseas in the near future also contribute to our
optimism regarding growth potential."

Zealand with a total of 40,733 beds. The Company also
