2 ex-guards at Austin jail indicted on sex
    charges

    Two former guards were
charged Wednesday with sexual misconduct against an
inmate at the Austin state jail, where a dozen
ex-employees already have been indicted on charges of
    harassing and sexually abusing prisoners.

    Robert
Cole and Christopher Sanders are the first new
indictments to emerge since December in the investigation of
the Travis County Community Justice Center, formerly
operated by the Wackenhut Corrections Corp. Eleven guards
and one former case manager have already been
    indicted.

Prosecutor Gail Van Winkle said the
investigation is continuing, and additional cases might be
presented to the next grand jury, which will convene in
    July.

"We still have a lot more information
we're looking at," Van Winkle said. "I can't say for
    sure."

Cole and Sanders are charged with
improper sexual activity with a person in custody, a state
jail felony, and with official oppression, a Class A
    misdemeanor.

    The indictments against Cole include
allegations that he had sex with a female inmate in January
    1999.

Sanders is accused of having sex with the
same inmate in January and February of that year.

The oppression charges against both men stem from
accusations that they also harassed the woman with unwelcome
    sexual advances, court documents said.
