China hungers for LPL products. Massive sales
LG Display, formerly LG.Philips LCD, has shown off its competitive flat-panel technologies in the booming Chinese flat-screen industry through its first overseas trip after the name change.

On Tuesday, LG Display said it will exhibit a 42-inch crystal display panel with a bezel (surround) thickness of 13.1 millimeters and a 47-inch LCD with a 14.1 millimeter bezel at the Flat Panel Display China in 2008 show that opened in Shanghai Tuesday for a three-day run.

The company will also showcase the industry’s biggest 52-inch multi-touch screen and ultra-slim LCD panels, while 12-inch monochrome and 14.3-inch color flexible displays are set to steal the limelight at the show.

Meanwhile, the world’s second-biggest LCD panel supplier after Samsung Electronics will also demonstrate crystal panels for laptops, mobile phones and digital photo frames, as well as the industry’s leading IPS-mode 120Hz refresh rate tech.

``The event will make LG Display better positioned in China ahead of the Beijing Olympics. This means that we can have a good chance to propel our products to larger retailers,’’ said Kown Bock, executive vice president of the company.

Weeks ago, the company changed its name to LG Display from LG.Philips LCD as Dutch-based consumer electronics giant Philips lowered its stake in the company to 19.9 percent.
