BGCP earnings, 600+ Million will show up in Statement.

BGCP earnings should read interesting, 8/1/13 BGCPs balance sheet rises dramatically. You would sure think there would be a buzz. Bring the details Howard. You will have a captive audience.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • I hope Howard had his "Wheaties" this mornimg. Ed

    • jon, I'm with you! Lutnick sold that piece of e-Speed to Nasdaq OMX Group for such a nosebleed price that the loss of revenues will be totally eclipsed by the huge cash infusion. And, let's not forget that in addition to the $750 million in cash, there's another $484 million in Nasdaq OMX stock coming in over 15 years, which basically cancels out BCGP's existing long-term debt.

My sense is that Lutnick would not have sold that piece of e-Speed at any price unless he were confident he could use the deal proceeds to make accretive investments that would boost shareholder value. After all, Lutnick owns almost 9 million BGCP shares, so he has plenty of "skin in the game".

I'm optimistic that some or all of the analysts that cover the stock will hike their valuation after the August 1st earnings release. They have been holding back pending the formal earnings release. Lots of moving parts to BGCP, and I can't blame any analyst for preferring to wait until GAAP results are released before upgrading the stock or setting a new price target. Clearly, in consideration of the princely sum Lutnick got for e-Speed, which was more than the entire equity cap of BGCP when the deal was announced, the stock is worth at least $8. Trends are moving in the company's favor, as trading volumes have increased. I think the CRE brokerage biz has potential, and the market isn't assigning any value to it. People have long underestimated Howard Lutnick, and the low stock price suggests expectations for future growth and financial performance of BGC Partners are very low.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • do u think everyone is naïve enuf to care that profit will show up up. what is equally important is the loss of revenues and cash flow going forward associated with the sale.

    • you think investment pros are idiots? u r naive. don't be surprised if u get fleeced from time to time.
