Does anyone think that we will see a dividend increase now that the company is so flush with cash? Stock buybacks may be great, but if you want to see an immediate stock price increase, raise the dividend.
No, and I don't think an increase in dividend at this point is a good idea. Stock buybacks over time will reduce the outstanding and increase earnings per share. The perception problem the company has is that its earnings are too low for it's dividend. The accounting is unfamiliar to most and so there is a reluctance to go all in. If they reduce the outstanding then this will solve itself over time. Secondly, they are building Newmark which will increase the value.
The company's long term interest is not always the same as the stockholders (traders) short term interest. JMO
what a completely jerky analysis. the only problem with bgcp stock is that management treats shareholders any whichway they want to. right now they are treating us as unsecured lenders paying us a dividend. we have no share in the upside except what they wish to throw us. hopefully we can change that with a few lawsuits. in the mean time your apologist attitude is falling on deaf ears.
