Does anyone know whether Rambus has launched an appeal process to revisit their huge loss last November against Micron MU and their even more devastating defeat last September by the Feds vacating many of the firm's most valuable patents?
Finally, does anyone have any ideas about how the dispute with Hynix will be resolved? I read recently that the CEO of the S. Korean company had spoken to a newspaper in his own country indicating that the two sides had gotten together to confer about a possible settlement. Then I read Hynix had filed to ask the judge to look at "new evidence" that should overturn the royalty obligation that the courts hold they must pay at some rate to be decided after the submission of briefs and oral arguments scheduled for next month. I hope we get either a settlement or a court decision on the amount of the bill before the holidays. I am thinking RMBS should get at least $150 million from Hynix either in a settlement or from the court ruling. Does that sound about right? I noticed that RMBS is still going to claim "damages" before the judge even though he has declared that their claim should be reasonable and nondiscriminatory.
