Markets volume is telling one thing.

One thing that this market is telling us is that a lot of people have taken their money out of the market and don't have any intention of putting it back in. Face it the Wall Street scum bags hurt a lot of investors real, real bad this time. They see their investments cut in half and are looking at other means to invest their money. In addition the demographics of the investment class are changing. The youngest baby boomers are in their mid forties and the oldest are just hitting their sixties.

If this crash tought them anything, it is the stock market can destroy their retirement very quickly. I don't see this demographic supporting the market like they did in the past. They will instead pull money out and reallocate into more conservative income generating investments as they age.

To the contrary, the baby bust generation from 1965 to 1975 just doesen't have the numbers to make up the difference.

The market has more problems than just earnings, it's biggest problems are demographic and trust.
