Exactly, if they want to pass a law that a Salesman act as Fiduciary-act in the customers best interest, DO IT. None of them will they ALL take money from Investment Banks.
While they are at it make it law that a Congressman has to be a fiduciary to taxpayers also!
They do not understand a market maker makes any side of the trade possible long and short.
They are trying to blame lack of oversight of the markets and rules in place and especially Freddie and Fannie, the CRA.
Rules allowing stated mortgages were Congress's purview.
This is a public spectacle to draw attention away from Lawmakers failure.
After passing the huge "stimulus" bill(PORK) now Obama wants to have a bipartisan deficit reduction panel today. Only one party voted for the spending that doubled our National debt this year.

He is just hiding Obama's roll in the financial melt down.
Fannie Mae was the real reason for the financial melt down. They continued to give out risky loans that they knew may not be paid back.
They had a key ally though in the junior senator from Illinois. They gave Obama the second biggest amount of lobbying money because he knew how to threaten other senators about not giving poor black people these risky loans.
The Chicago thug had arrived in the senate.
