Dan Scaminace figured it was a long shot when he sent an email pleading his case to the CEO of Discover, title sponsor for Monday's BCS National Championship between the Fighting Irish and Alabama. His pledge of allegiance to his team and the credit card company struck a sympathetic chord.
Soon after, representatives of Discover showed up at his home in Minnetonka, Minn., to award him tickets for two club level seats as well as airline tickets and hotel accommodations.
"It was unbelievable. I was so excited I was shaking as if I'd just won the lottery. I feel very fortunate," said Scaminace, 29, who will make the trip with his fiancée, Corynn Koch.
He didn't have to pledge their first-born child, but he does plan to name a new dog Discover.
