Seems the lack of liquidity here makes it difficult to sell out of larger positions without losing on price. Anyone have this concern? And yes I know the dividend is the reason to not sell, but what about the liquidity issue?
It's an issue so you need to know how to sell intelligently. Wait for high volume days. You can't just decide out of the blue to dump 20k shares. I got out of a 30K position a few years back on day a few years back when all of a sudden the stock moved from $14 to $17 on no news with heavy volume. Some fund decided to buy in and I decided to get out.
Duncan has sold about 200k shares over the past couple of years and he never moved the price. He never sells below $14 and he never sells a large lot on any one day. BTW- he bought at $4 or less. After collecting dividends, his cost basis is probably less than zero.
