This company has slowing shifted from one of the better grading companies to a scam. If your not in their little "Favorite's Circle", they now purposely under-grade to generate future business. Purposely making these mistakes (or scamming the small guy) will cause future business. Because their hope is that under-graded coin will eventually be handle again when someone re-submits it. Basically, they have figured out that almost all coin that can be submitted is running out, which means there is an end to what they are doing. They can't survive with modern coinage, with minor profit margins.
They have realized they have to start scamming the small guy for their future.
Now for the "Favorite's Circle". There is several companies that they just hand out a grade. The coin is cleaned or over-graded for these groups because they send large amounts of coin. Yes, that's good for PCGS short term, but these coins never get removed from the holder because they are so far off. Eventually they end up with a bunch of over-graded coins in PCGS holders and a bad reputation because there is junk in their holders. I have a desktop folder loaded with cleaned coins in holders from PCGS, as well as damaged coins and graffiti coins they graded as no problem examples. This is the reason CAC has flourished. CAC is doing so well because PCGS turned into a scamming company.
you know the graders don't know who the submitter is right? You know you can get someone else to submit your coin for you if you really suspect what you said is true.
Modern coins make up 50% of their coins graded and can grow by a great amount. Less than 1% of all modern coins are currently graded. The "First Strike" label is a huge money maker.
CAC charges $10/coin and has 1 guy. How much money can they be making? PCGS is in with Legend which is a CAC partner.
the big scam is NGC which basically hands out MS70 and PR70. Look at the pop reports and price guides. That is why PCGS coins are more valuable than NGC, both modern and vintage. You should make your rant on NGC's board
The market for PCGS is done. They hire guys off the landscaping trucks to grade coins.
Grading companies reach a point when everything in there holders that is overgraded stays in the holder and the undergraded stuff gets broke out. Every other PCGS coin I see at the largest coin show is now in a position where it is over graded. JUNK. They have matured to have junk in a PCGS holder. They are start to look like ACG.
