With Unemployment still high. The prospect of good news for HRB may not come for 2011 tax season. Fees may be down due to: Clients who aren't paying their mtg's won't be itemizing. Clients with rental income properties will have less properties to claim due to foreclosures, etc. Lower income clients with only income from Unemployment will be denied EIC. Small Corp clients will dwindle or close down. Yuck Next tax season one will have to cut costs, switch to lower software providers..hm..that gives me an idea for HRB ..They can sell their s'ware to independents.
One can also put more on the shelf to sell/sublet to(collect rent, get mo traffic)..Insurance,bookkeeping,payroll services etc.
Good news though.. JTX locations will disappear near you, some HRB stores too, many disenchanted start ups too ,so the strong will pick at their bones for some meat.
Wonder the price HRB should be if they lose another 8-9 % client base?
