A friend of a friend was in KC last month heard about a possibility that Block was considering buying Liberty, probably not true. I know there is a lot of speculation about John Screwitt buying Block (not going to happen) any thoughts on this unlikely rumor being true?
It would not be the first time they have bought a tax firm, especially one that is made up with franchises.
Many of the people that have a bad history at Block with Hewitt are gone now. That history is not in the way anymore. But John's head may get in the way. It depends upon how much power he wants as part of the deal. He will at least want a seat on the board, if not more.
A combinaton of Block and Liberty would be tough for Jackson Hewitt to contend with. It is going to be tough on them, even if they remain separate companies.
Hewitt is too small to swallow up Block, but if he could worm his way back into the company and work it from inside, he would do it.
