RedGear technologies is putting small tax preparers in a bind, We have tried to contact RedGear but with no avail. We go to thier facebook page and we still havent recieved any answers. It is now the 29th and our clients have been waiting (some not so patiently) and we are trapped there is nothing we can at this moment for it is not enough time to change programs. If you could only feel our frustration, our clients are wanting answers and we are unable to give them any. These issues need to addressed and fixed promptly.
We had the same problem and could not wait any longer we switched to
intuit pro series and were up and running 4 hours after we placed the order
the program works and is much faster and better, we have saved our business.
I would imagine all the tax software folks are scrambling just as the IRS to reprogram a bunch of forms impacted by the changes that Congress waited until the very end of 2012 to approve. It will be interesting to see if the IRS will be able to smoothly process those e-filed tax returns now in the queue today (1/30), or if additional pain, tax return kick-backs with errors et al dog of us tax professionals going into Feb and the rest of the tax season. I already find myself telling many of my clients that forms needed to do their business returns, 1040s with SCH C (with depreciation or business miles), and those who have kids in college needing wanting any of the college tax credits have to now wait until late Feb/Mar to e-file their returns. I'm also seeing dates from brokers working on 1099s dealing with the new reporting rules are showing dates as late as mid to late March for some of them being produced. I'm crossing my fingers most of this mess will be cleaned up before the heavy part of my tax season in March/April occurs, but it looks like this will be a messy tax season for many of us tax pros to get through.
