What a nice surprise to watch this stock grow.... hopefully this means Block is doing very well. Haven't talked to my Block buddies since Dec., and it's been an excellent peak to date, where the true numbers will be known next week when the 8863's and 4562's get signed, paid for, and e-filed. Business returns need more 1099's this year than ever before, and I've got my fingers crossed IRS delivers my next order this week, or it's back to staples, where they are over priced! Good luck to all, may this coming week allow a lunch break.
Thanks for the good wishes doontoothers. I hope your 1099s arrive on time (although they were supposed to be filed last month, so that part is already late). I know it's not your fault. This past week I filed one for 2011. Got to love those clients.
With the blizzard here in the northeast, everyone lost 2-3 days of work. There were travel bans most of Friday and all Saturday in many New England states. State roads were reopened today, but you had to be able to get to one. Most secondary roads were covered in 3 feet of snow, so towns and cities needed bucket loaders instead of plows. We are still digging out, and many school districts have already announced they will be closed Mon AND Tues. My office was closed Sat and Sun, and all those cancelled appointments will have to be rescheduled for late in the month or in March, or else dropped off so we can burn the midnight oil catching up. Block offices likely reopened today, but that doesn't mean their appointments could actually get out of their houses. It will probably be a very busy week at Block once people can get moving again. I think Northeast tax pros will be lucky to have a supper break this week.
