NEW YORK — Israel launched its second airstrike in three days in and around the Syrian capital of Damascus on Sunday, heightening tensions in the region, according to media reports. A shipment of highly accurate, Iranian-made guided missiles believed to be bound for Lebanon’s Hezbollah militant group was the target of Israeli strikes. An unidentified senior Israeli official confirmed to the AP that Israel launched an airstrike early Sunday targeting Fateh-110 missiles, whose precision guidance systems provide better aim than anything Hezbollah is known to have in its arsenal.
