Roseanne Barr: War On Drugs 'Big Fat Lie And A Cover For Class War'
Posted: 16 Aug 2013 04:00 PM PDT
Actress and activist Roseanne Barr sits down with John Fugelsang for the final episode of “Viewpoint” to discuss the war on drugs and running for president in the 2012 election.
Fugelsang asks about Barr’s active Twitter account and a previous post on the war on drugs. “The war on drugs is a war waged by rich ppl on prescription drugs against poor ppl on street drugs. #ponziscam,” Barr’s account tweeted back in April. Barr says, “It’s also just a big fat lie and a cover for class war — and to arrest young people, brown and black, off the streets for a marijuana joint and put them in privatized prisons where they become a labor force for corporations at 16 cents an hour.”
Barr ran for president in 2012 on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket and finished in sixth place. Fugelsang asks Barr about her experience and what her take is on the modern two-party system, and Barr says, “I ran because I think the American people deserve…the right to vote for a party that is not owned by bankers.” Barr adds, “This system is not broken — it’s fixed.”
