IM ELATED. BUT WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED

After all, it's not their core strategy, just a
healthy addition. After IPv6 and QOS gets worked out, the
Internet will be a nice way to make a phone call.
    It's
a nice hunk of change for me today.... US Markets
closed? Darn. I could watch this all day!

    • Regarding QoS with IPv6. I'm a
      little
perplexed by your comment - but we'll leave
      that alone
(are you trying to toy with the
      non-techy
      analysts?).

In anycase, I agree that the time is near
      (or
hear) for good QoL for VoIP. This is
      because of the
      high bandwidth NT fiber being
      sold. Of this, there
      is no doubt.

      Regarding Crisco's VoIP
      products, the real
issue will be feature set. Crisco is
      WAY
      behind.

      • Hey guy, those 300 features that you
        have
built into Nortel Meridians and LU have built
        into
the Definity are being shown up as
        a waste of
        time.

There is really no need to have 15 ways to make
        a
call transfer - 2 or 3 will do in the vast
        majority
        of cases.

        Cisco's products will match the
        most asked for
requirements of most users now - and
        in a very
short time, they will be able to add
        the
features that major customer are asking for.

        I will
give you this though - the proprietary
        lock-in that
        Nortel and Lucent have with
        their Voice Mail systems
        is a problem for
        Cisco... but the customers want
        Cisco to
succeed in breaking this lock-in because
        they
are "not happy" with the current
        situation!

Don't rely on features or proprietary stuff
        to save
Nortel or Lucent - it didn't save IBM.
