As more fully described in the 10-K, at 3.26 copper, scco has about 66 million metric tons of copper in the ground at its currently operating mines. This does not include mines under development, such as El Arco (estimated 190,000 tpy), Tia Maria (120,000 tpy) and others at various stages of development or exploration described in the 10-K.
Since the amount of ore which can be profitably mined varies with the price of copper, they also disclose the same ore bodies hold 59 million tons at 2.00 copper.
Current prodiction capacity is about 700,000 tpy at slightly higher ore grades than were mined in 2011. Thus it is unlikely that anyone reading this will see scco run out of reserves unless one counts observation from an afterlife.
