Rio Tinto's Kennecott copper mine was hit by a massive landslide May 16. No one was killed or injured but operations and mining will be shut down for months or possibly even years. Silver and gold production also severely reduced. Over 1 billion tons of earth moved. Kennecot is (was?) the largest copper mine in the world.
The copper supply just got a LOT tighter.
I'd post a link but Yahoo won't allow it. Google "Kennecott landslide" for some amazing photos.
