They just announced that they are increasing the qtrly div to 29 cents from 27. Should be an interesting day, and rest of the week/year, seeing how many long term holders want to get that special div and then sell the stock to avoid higher taxes.
"seeing how many long term holders want to get that special div and then sell the stock to avoid higher taxes."
Of course, anyone who sells today, before the 12/6 ex date (all else equal) will be able to get a higher share price by 3 bucks!
Nice to see the quarterly was increased, but I say stop with the special divs and simply treat the shareholders right by paying a respectable quarterly like TROW etc. It's not like BEN doesn't have the cash.
Oops, I should have had my reading glassed on; I read 12/6 as the ex (it's the record date).
None the less, as we all can see, BEN's share price was adjusted down by 3 bucks at yesterday's open. Clearly I don't pay much attention to BEN's div payments--I pay more attention to BEN's strange div policy LOL.
