    New additions

    yesterday I bought:

NL - I've been trading taking small profits with quick turnarounds, buying between $10.60 and $10.90 and selling above $11.25. It's fairly safe as it's paying a good dividend so if it does head lower when I'm caught with it, I have no problem buying even more. My fear is that I'm going to sell one time and it's going to keep going higher...which did happen over the past couple weeks but I got lucky with this whole political game which brought it back down again. Maybe I'll hold longer this time?

JCS - I wanted to buy a few months ago, but being thinly traded I couldn't get the price/volume and then it went up. It came back down a bit and I finally grabbed some yesterday. Again, good dividend, great financials, and profits are beginning to come back. Should be a good one for 2014. Will buy more if it goes sub-$10 again.

CY - I always buy when the shares fall below $10 and then sell above $11. Added shares below $9 yesterday to what I picked up when it first broke below $10 a week or two ago. I also have some Jan 2015 $7 call options that were really cheap.

    Today I bought:
LF - very volatile, but great financials, solid product line, holidays are coming and they should do well. I bought a small position, will buy more if it falls further. I made quick money about a month ago from $8.75 up to $9.90 so I have profit to play with this time around.

FXNC - tiny bank - you may not like. Low sharecount/float, thinly traded. Insiders continually buy and I've been watching it for months. It just fell below $5 and I think that triggered some to dump the shares...but it's fallen from $6.00 to $5.00 on almost no volume over past couple weeks. Financials, earnings, and asset quality are all strengthening so I'm more than happy to sit on it - it can easily go right back to $6 or $7 with similarly light volume. But again, may not be to your liking...I do trade banks when I see opportunity and mispricing together with insider purchasing.

      • Thanks - will have a look.

Cashed in a bunch of stuff yesterday - took losses on 2 garbage positions (it happens to the best of us) a big win on one, quick profits from buying CY Thursday under $9, and one or two others that got swept higher with the market and will probably head back down. So I increased cash a good amount. My reports have been showing this past two weeks very very little insider purchasing so I'm thinking it's time to begin moving to the sidelines, look to unload more positions if prospects have worsened or run their course, standing pat with the remainder, and wait for year end tax selling to begin buying again.

Also - ITI began moving Thursday/Friday - earnings this coming week...should be interesting - will need to decide if I should sell prior to the announcement or hold through it. I'm leaning towards holding through it - but it really depends if it gets pushed higher prior to then.
