Red,can't help with just thermal numbers..Per EIA.gov/coal/production/quarterly...coal stocks in general down 7.5% from Q-4 2012 to end of Q-1 2013...this in article referenced out today, along with other numbers..worth a look-see..
When thermal inventories were growing, I read 2-3 articles per week mentioning that. Now that they dropped below average as of end of April (5 year average) can hardly any information. Maybe EVA (Energy Ventures) will post end-of-May report next week, but they are not very consistent with when they publish their data. Looked at presentations of all coal-related companies ... nothing in the past month ... the last data was from June 5th and it was for April inventories. I am sure they mentioned inventories on IHS McCloskey Coal USA Conference (two weeks ago) ... but I did not find any slides from that conference.
We will get numbers from EIA for end-of-May in 3 weeks. And before that we will get we are going to get some estimated numbers from Union Pacific, Peabody and ACI on their calls (hopefully for end-of-June).
