This is GREAT news. Avid is obviously making a real attempt at hitting the consumer market. This is a great strategy and pretty much the same one they have been using at the pro-sumer-professional levels. Most of the media arts schools have low end Avids and train "Avid editors". When these guys and gals get out in the industry they are trained to cut on Avid, which drives demand. Now, at the very lowest end, consumers will be exposed to the Avid GUI and when they decide to become budding filmakers or wedding videographers...guess what products they look for? the one that they KNOW!
