This current management comes from a non-pro entertainment background. Video editing, sound mixing and editing, HiDef are all new worlds for them. Their only hope is to innovate as soon as possible..... But they just cut over 350 jobs and they laid off key people in major markets like Los Angeles and I suppose NY also..... So how do you fight the Apple machine? How do you fight current users unwilling to re-upgrade again.... You must have the vision and the talent to introduce new cutting edge, got-to-have products.
They speak of implementing the new plan... but folks I deal with who work for them have no idea just what that plan might be!
I suspect that with all the historic ups and downs of Avid that they might really be looking at serious trouble here. This is truly an American success story... but if it is encumbered by consultants and gross cost and personnel cutting the future will in fact be bleaker than bleak!
