For a company with such promise on almost all cancers, why wouldn't this company be bought out in a nanosecond? At a market cap of barely a quarter billion, it would be litle more than a flyer to the big boys even if it tanked.
Don't see a buyout unless Powers wants to sell. Keep in mind that in addition to her own sizable position, she has voting control over the Toucan Investment and Cognate Bioscience shares. Don't know if the combined add up to a majority position or not, but large enough to block any buyout she doesn't agree to.
No doubt- but think everyone has their price. If someone is willing to pay a hefty premium- why not sell. Ms. Powers could also negotiate other terms- such as she could stay on as a consultant should she choose, etc. Being a business owner- I know how much "sweat equity" goes into getting something off the ground and would never sell my business unless it was substantially more than not only the financial/book value but also the intrinsic value.
My guess is there is something on the table right now and word is out. There is no way this stock has run for 7 strait days with huge volume from a Fox news report. Also given the company is in need of cash and hasn't done a raise on this run up leads me to believe something is up... partnering, buyout or results of Direct being known by WS. Something is brewing and it's not Folgers.
Exactly, which is why I believe that a buyout is very likely within 9-12 months. Even at $30 pps minimum, the acquiring pharma stands to make several billion the first few years. And then.............Amgen territory.
