TripAdvisor won't do anything about hotel gaming the system
Were the benefits in exchange for the 5 star reviews? In other words, did the hotel say to the guest, if you write a 5 star review on TA, we will give you a free dessert or something? Which hotel was it? Thanks.
I forgot what was exactly offered. But, it wasn't a verbal solicitation; there was actually a written sign offering such benefit. The hotel was Svenska in Mumbai. The hotel had a fabulous rating, but the hotel was sub-par. I am just more disgusted that TripAdivor didn't care at all and didn't even reply at all. I guess they figure I am just one of many people who use the site and can just ignore this. I have written many reviews, and I don't write any more now knowing that many reviews weren't even true.
This has happened locally (Baltimore) as well. Consumers need to take everything they read on the 'net with a grain of salt and use common sense. Many regular posters like myself call out these fakes when we think we see on. BTW, I have owned TRIP and just got back in. Used Tingo a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Got 2 $40 refunds on my room in Park City. It seems to me that they are monetizing the company pretty well. Don't care if anyone else buys or not because highly skeptical of most people here. Need people to write reviews because the one's that I trust most are from regular reviewers and not the one and outs.
