How Does the American Propaganda Engine Work?

Perhaps the American media produces more propaganda aiming at keeping the populace in ingorant light than any other countries combined. This also explains why so many Americans are ingorant of the basic common facts.

Case of point, this online article has just surfaced today, from the pen of AP's Audra Ang in Beijing. She wrote: "China, on the defensive over the safety of its products, lashed out Wednesday at the U.S. by claiming its soybean exports contained pesticides, poisonous weeds and dirt ..."

In a tradition of the well-schooled buzz-word journalism (we patriotism & they nationalism, and we the freedom fighters and they the terrorists), she immediately concluded that China's claim must be "defenstive" in nature, and "lashing out" in action to America's rightful claims of the same, without a need of source verification and facts-finding ... of any sort.

Such harmful and biased reporting promotes ignorance and protectionism. The narrowmindedness brewed from such daily doses also contribue to America's slow yet steady decline.

    • <For moi, I'd LOVE to share a lunch with Castro,>

You'd have to speak in Spanish, not French. Castro speaks spanish and english.

    • <I like to be called a lowlife>

Yeah, you're a certified, bonafide, trailor trash lowlife. So enjoy the remainder of your miserable sorry life.

For moi, I'd LOVE to share a lunch with Castro, like many thinking American would. That'd be a highlight in everyone's life.

    • So are you long or short BX?

      • <So are you long or short BX? >

Long, of course. In an Inefficient Market, it's always good to take an advantage of the arb.

BX will prove all the naysayers wrong. This will be the new Long March .... decades in the making.

BX will be the next gen of GS. Who knows, maybe China will one day own both GS and BX whole.

    • <My Econ Prof was totally wrong about "Efficient Market Theory"...... >

BTW, the Efficient Market Theory isn't a economic concept. So, certainly your econ prof shouldn't have anything to do with it.

However, I also disagreed with my prof in equity investment about the same old theory. This along with the Dow Theory and the Odd Lot Theory should all be thrown into the trash.

    • <She will say anything for a vote >

A rat bait lures out all the country house Lemmings and some wild ones, too.

    • Hillary + subprime : She wants to bail out the subprime greed + stupidity with taxpayers money ! She will say anything for a vote (VoteWhore) , and bankrupt the country for her power trip.

    • BTW - this is a BX message board, not a communist internet blog- so save the politics sweetie, alright? I come here for BX opinions and info- not your retarded political views.....

    • <Perhaps the American media produces more propaganda aiming at keeping the populace in ingorant light than any other countries combined. This also explains why so many Americans are ingorant of the basic common facts.>

I don't know if American media produces more propaganda then anyone else. But I do believe US media is controlled by profits and not governments. One can find news targeted to their political and social leanings through most media distribution channels.

As an excercise, try to look up China's population with aides. I believe it's somewhere around 600K. Hmmmm,
don't know if I can believe it. 1.3 trillion people, and record number of men migrating to big cities for construction work.....leaving families behind years on end.

How about coverage of government corruption in Venezuela?

Average Americans are not as knowledgeable about World events because we didn't have to. We're geographically isolated, and most foreign trading partners speak English. But, I have seen a change over the past few years, as globalization is impacting Americans. For example, blogs and alternative magazines. So, to me, the behavior is not unique to Americans but rather one of circumstance.

Let's call it "thought marketing". My only response is: freedom of choice requires knowledge of choices. As a proponent of truth and self actualization, you surely agree that no matter how true or well intended a message maybe, its value is optimized only when it is taken in voluntarily.

Maybe that's why I like to watch E news at night....so I can get the straight scoop on LL in rehab.

    • Extremely stupid post , and annoying -- our media is biased indeed, but worst in world? C'mon- your saying Iran and China have better media ??????

America is far from perfect...... but still best country to live in the world.....
