If Those Govt. Workers Were "Non-Essential", then Why Were They Hired?

With the Govt. shutdown, they've sent all the "non-essential" workers home.

This country is running Gigantic Deficits and mortgaging our Childrens' future... WHY are we hiring "non-essential" workers during a fiscal crisis like this?

I run a business, just like Blackstone runs a business. If I hired "non-essential" workers, I would go bankrupt...

... just like our country's going bankrupt under the weight of the planet's most massive entitlement systems.

I got "the letter" early last week. My health insurance premiums under Obamacare are more than DOUBLING...

... and when you consider my higher deductables and annual out-of-pocket, my health insurance costs are almost TRIPPLING!

Who's idea was this Obamacare monstrosity, anyway?

Low income people with big subsidies are signing up for "gold" and "platinum" Obamacare coverage, and I've got to use my middle-income wages to pay a huge premium just to get a "bronze" policy.

    This is INSANITY!

Shut it DOWN... shut it ALL down!

    • The definition of essential for federal government functions: Minimum number of employees required for continuation of security and economic viability of the nation. In other words...National Parks employees are not essential....most Dept of Education employees are not essential....many of the HUD employees are not essential. Many secretaries and clerical workers are not considered essential, as are janitorial staff. But over time, an organization needs these types of people to operate efficiently. One Depart of Defense Agency that I'm aware of designated 17 employees out of a total of 2500+ headquarters employees to be essential; most of the day to day tasks are performed in the field. Usually the essential designation thought as...what is necessary to operate for a limited period, normally two weeks....think of it as an emergency period.
