Why would they halt BKD on upcoming news? Anyone know reasons in the past for other companies?
It did trade 55K shares and was down over 3.5% Odd that they would let it open, trade, and then halt. With that drop, I would guess bad news for longs.
The news is actually good. I wouldn't say great... but good. When large amount of shares are bought it is always at a discount. The price of $18.76 per share is not much of a discount. This means that the buyer has a lot of confidence in this stock.
Companies halt trading when there is major news to report. It is done so that everyone can digest the news at the same time before resuming trading. It can go either way (Good or Bad) but I have found that in most cases there is more up reward than punishment. If the news is good (Buyout, Upward adjustment to earnings, New credit facility) the stock tends to react very well and maintain. If the news is bad (Downward adjustment to earnings, Bankruptcy, Loss of credit facility) the stock initially plummets but rebounds soon after.
This stock historically goes down over the next two weeks.
this company could easily head back to the $3-4 range.
right again.
