Natural gas business emits huge quantities of methane gas into the atmosphere. Methane gas is a far more harmful pollutant than carbondioxide. However, the media and many politicians in this country continues to promote nat gas as "clean energy."
Good point. It would be interesting to do a quantitative comparison of methane release vs carbon dioxide emission, but I doubt the methane numbers are available, too dispersed.
