Does Alpha have any operations in Australia or Indonesia?

I'm thinking of going long but this morning's news is making we wonder if that's a good idea. Chinese and Indian imports are way up, but virtually all of the imports are from Australia and Indonesia.

    Please help.

    • China imports are up but almost all are from Australia and Indonesia? Most definitely. I learned in the third grade that Australia and Indonesia were a lot closer to mainland China than the United States. Seriously, think about what you just said. Coal prices worldwide are in the toilet. The US wants to impose some type
of fee or tax on certain amounts of coal that are exported. Shipping costs have been increasing lately.
Unless you can make a profit shipping coal from the US to India and China, at these historical low prices,
and with the added costs involved in doing so, you're not going to do it.

Three things have to happen for coal prices to go back up. Worldwide demand has to increase. Competing
energy sources have to increase substatially, alot more than coal does. Stored supplies of coal have to diminish.

For an instance....Coal prices continue to fall and the less efficient mines continue to be shut down. The weaker companies go BK. Less coal is produced. Prices eventually goes up. Next, clean coal becomes a reality within the next five years! If there is a coal company left, it will be a bonanza!

So the game here today...Pick the two or three companies that may survive the next five years at
existing, or even lower, coal prices. If ANR is on that small list, you have a winner!

IMHO...Everyone needs to do their own DD!
