I've been driving by the Shafter project about once a week for two years watching their progress. It's looking really good from the road, in terms of capital equipment and the operation seems going strong, so I decided to buy the stock about two months ago. One of the managers was on Marfa Public Radio with statements of conservative estimates of about 4 to 5 million ounces of silver projected to be mined over several years. Could be a good investment.
Not a pit, there was an old silver mine in Shafter that's been productive on and off for centuries. New mining technology and the price of Ag has made it profitable again. Other precious metals are there too including Au.
