"in primary care specialties, the cost of insurance continued to be one of the highest practice expenses. Family physicians, internists, and pediatricians all paid a median of $12,500 annually for med-mal coverage, based on the survey. Ob/gyns forked over more than four times as much, because of their propensity to be sued"
Don't tell me that Ob/gyns won't be begging for a simple blood test
They must sweat bullets whenever they have to schedule a amnio
you got it right...blood test to screen for down Vs amnio...blood test would become standard of care...am still looking for more real data on their technology. I pay 30K for malpractice insurance...per year..am sick and tired of "I am owed"...atitude....physicians in general make the best decisions they can with the information at hand...I now wish I had never gone into medicine...
Very true. OB/GYN has the highest malpractice insurance rates, period. They own that child until 18 as far as the potential for suit. ANY defects until then can be BY LAW tied back to the prenatal care and or birth. 1% chance and or HIGHER false pos/negs equal HIGHER malpractice
