Wyden takes gavel, steers nat gas exports

Whatever direction, looks like the plans require major pipelines installed. Here's the lead....

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), the incoming chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said the Energy Department must provide lawmakers more information about proposals to ramp up U.S. natural gas exports.

“The first thing that the department has to do is deal with the fact that Congress is in the dark on this issue,” Wyden said in an interview broadcast Sunday on Platts Energy Week TV.

Wyden is skeptical of an array of companies' applications to export liquefied natural gas, fearing it could raise prices at a time when low costs and abundant supplies are helping manufacturers that rely on the fuel.
