Quick, this silly HFT gives a false sense of small time investors when actually it's the big boys using algorithm programs to trade. Actually it's even available to a simple hillbilly like me. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth so I don't use it to much, however it's utilization can and has been profitable. It allows one to trade 1,000s of shares without moving a thinly traded stock like a market or even a limit order can.
Taking yesterday's volume and subtracting out the obvious big trades, then dividing by the total minutes in the trading days, shows an average volume of just over 1000 shares per minute. I don't call that HFT.
